Just got my newestr piece in the mail today.
Sarreguemines made Nickolas Coronation cup.

A very attractive addition to any collection! I have seen these before in Russia but they usually have at least a chip or two. I do not know if it is the ceramic body that is fragile or that the beakers (large stakans) managed to survive two world wars, three revolutions and a civil war.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, (you out bid us on ebay for this by the way) but it isn't a Coronation cup, it is a commerative of the visit of N&A to France in 1896 after the Coronation. Saguerramines made a whole line of these commerative, plates, mugs, etc.

I have been looking for one of these for a while now.
Could not believe that one showed up on ebay!

Its a great piece the colors are much better that my photos. Nice NO chips or cracks,


The body is made of what they call majolica, I think.  And its a soft ceramic.

In France and in Russia this ceramic body is known as faïence. Like most low fired wares, it is easily damaged so treat it very carefully. Of course the fact that the majority of these pieces are damaged only enhances the desirability of your new acquisition. Nice piece.
