I have figured out the problem with the PM's.  The PM system uses the pallasart mail server to send the messages. Occasionally the email server is overloaded or clogged by someone sending too many emails or too large a file.t he server automatically resets after a while, or Bob restarts it if it persists. So you just need to be patient if you're having a PM issue, it will resolve itself shortly.

I'm still having one problem, although it's not a big deal.

When I read all my messages and return to the main board, the header is still showing "1 is new".  Last night I deleted all my messages, thinking I might have too many saved, and today it says, "0 messages, 1 is new".

It crashed again!  I was off from Friday night until right now.  Does this happen because the moderators are editing or maintenance or something?

One of the main databases of the forum crashed late friday, and had to be rebuilt. Neither Bob or I know how to rebuild them without losing all the information, and Walt was out of town...

Sorry gang. but Wizard Walt has come to the rescue finally.

Dear Bob and Rob,

Please thank "wizard Walt"! He is a real treasure.

Glad that the palace has opened it's gate again.

In the last two days I could not get on the forum, there was always the message "the table is marked as crashed and should be repaired". I am always afraid that important contributions could go lost in such cases. :(
How big is the possibility that this happens?

Not very. The way the databases are set up the information is safe. Some information may be lost, but 90% at least is intact.  We had one total major crash, and lost only the threads in one section before an early date.

That´s good to hear ;)

But what could be done that these crashes to not happen so often? I think it´s always a lot of work to restore the lost things... :-\
