once i was tavelling by train where i met a young woman from spain.she wasn`t spanish but she ahd been living there for a long time and had a spanish husband and 3 kids. we were discussing different issues including that of the royal family ( i have to stress that i don`t like moden royals. the crown princess in spain is not a royal lady, she is a commoner with all due respect. a royal is someone special ,someone royal by birth,by blood.the last REAL royal couple of spain is king juan carlos and queen sophia). she told me the following things:
1. the spanish deeply respect their royal family,especially the king and the queen for their dignity and simplicity.
2. she said that it had been clear for a long time that infanta elena and her husband experienced hard time in their marriage. they appeared together only in public , when their arrival together and joint pesence were absolutely necessary due to some state holidays,state visits etc. unlike other childen of juan carlos and sophia, they weren`t seen together on private occasions. also, it was clear, when people looked at them, that the feeling that once existed between them, disappeared. the couple however carried out their official duties and pretended that everything was fine because the royal family is catholic. catholic church doesn`t accept divorces. besides, sepaation and subsequent divorce would ruin the reputation of the royal family so infanta elena had to go on like usual. but eveyone in spain knew that the duke and duchess of lugo were difiting apart.
3.she also said a few words abbout the crown prince and princess. princess leticia has a very difficult character, she is not a person that easily finds a common ground with other people. she is also the leader in her family, and the prince often obeys her and accepts her leading role.
