Nicholas II's translator
« on: June 04, 2013, 01:33:41 PM »
Hi, I'm looking for information about Nicholas II's translator - a great grandfather of my husband. The family name was Sperling - but it may have been changed from something more Russian sounding - like Sperlov. Any information most welcome.

I've never seen a reference to a "Translator" for Nicholas II.  He spoke Russian, English, French and German quite fluently, so he really had no need for a "translator", from what I've learned.

Interesting. Thanks. My husband remembers being told that the translator spoke 7 languages - and had his passage out of Russia paid for by the Tsarina.
