My predictions, for what they're worth!

Olga would probably love reading 'intellectual' fantasy books; Abarat, Dark is Rising, His Dark Materials. I could also see her watching a lot of PBS/BBC documentaries, and maybe shows like Lost. As for music, I think she'd be a Bob Dylan fan.

Tatianna would probably spend less of her time reading books and more time on fashion magazines! She'd probably love shows like 'Project Runway'. As for music, I could see her liking whatever is modern and popular at the time.

Marie would probably be similar to Tatiana in reading tastes- but I could also see her being really into cooking or the like, and watching a lot of the Food Channel.

Anastasia would be a computer geek! She'd also read a lot of humor novels, like The Time Warp Trio and what not.

Alexei would be, well, a typical little boy- because hemophilia isn't such a huge deal nowadays.

I could see Nicholas reading things like Old House Journal and Carpenter's Digest or something; I'm sure he'd spend a lot of his free time on carpentry projects around the house. (if we're saying they're normal middle class rather than stilll rulers).

And Alexandra would read a lot of Brett Lott and other 'women's writers'.

My wife and I like talking about how we think OTMA would react in various modern situations.  When we something cute, we might say something like "Oh, Mashka would like that!"  When we hear something disturbing, we might say something like "Olga would say something cutting."

If Anastasia happened to like the animated Anastasia, it would probably because she would find it so wrong that it's funny!

I think this topic is both beautiful and sad. A lot of us probably wonder what it would be like if the Romanovs lived today!

I think High School Musical might be a little too cliche, but the fact that it's a musical might be appealing. I don't know. I think I'm speaking from a biased point of view, personally disliking HSM, so perhaps I shouldn't say anything at all, hahaha. But then again, as it is so popular, maybe a lot of them would like it?

I didn't want to start a whole new topic, so sorry if anyone has problems with me re-visiting this. Just my two cents:

Olga: Would probably read the same stuff that she did when she was alive. Les Mis, her mother's books, religious texts, poetry. She'd be described as an "old soul" no matter what century she lived in. She'd probably like a lot of indie rock, and maybe if she was in a "harder" mood she'd like Nightwish, Within Temptation, or Evanescence. She'd dress like an indie rocker/hippie chick (not a smelly, unwashed one, though), write poetry, and have the role of "angsty college student" down to a science.

Tatiana: Would be the really hot girl that all the guys wanted but couldn't have because she was out of their league. She'd dress very well, mostly designer clothes. She'd read a lot of magazines and a romance novel or book of poetry every now and then, and of course the Bible. As for music, she'd probably like whatever was popular at the time, excluding hip-hop/rap.

Maria: Would probably get married and start a family right out of high school without even going to college. Or, if she went to college, it would only be to meet guys/obey her parents. She'd dress nicely, but not as well as Tatiana (a lot more jeans and longer, more flowy skirts). She'd also probably like what was popular at the time; maybe she'd be the one into the hip-hop/rap.

Anastasia: Would be a cross between a club kid and a rocker chick. She'd probably mix and match a lot: band t-shirt with mini-skirt and pumps, sequined top with ripped jeans and Chucks. Probably wouldn't read very much, unless it was a magazine or the back of the latest Cascada CD.

Alexei: Hard to tell. When he died, he would have been too old for the traditional "kid" stuff like cartoons and Harry Potter, but not really old enough to know what he'd be into. Maybe he'd be into a mixture of hip-hop/rap culture and hard rock/heavy metal. He'd probably be like Anastasia and mix and match a lot. He'd probably play sports, too. If he were alive today, it'd be easier for him to live a normal life despite his illness.

As for Nicholas and Alexandra, I could see him being very outdoorsy (hunting and camping, sports) but also owning his own business, possibly a landscaping company or a gardening store. She would probably be really New Age-y. Long skirts, lots of beaded necklaces, crystals and tarot cards, a mixture of Enya and '60s hippie music.

I think that, if the IF were magically transported from the Edwardian to the modern era, Alexandra would have the hardest time adapting. She'd probably be appalled by all of the the above, except the psuedo-hippie/New Age persona.

Are we assuming they're royalty or not? I'm guessing not.

Olga would be the smart quiet one, high scores in school, reads alot, is likable but generally has a group of good friends and sticks with them. Doesn't mix much but has a good sense of humour once you get to know her.

Tatiana would be 'popular', and the kind of person who's annoying because she's good at everything, is heaps popular, comes first in races on sports day, gets straight As, is house cation etc. A bit like Ja'mie King, for anyone who gets that reference.

Maria would just be the sweet sister in the middle. A mix of her two older sisters. She'd choose like all the arty subjects at school and have abstract, dreamy ideas. She'd probably have a steady boyfriend through highschool

Anastasia would be the comedian sister. Class clown, who doesn't really concentrate and is fun to have in class because she makes it entertaining. She wouldn't be very intellectual on weekends she'd just go out with people and have fun.

Alexei would be just a normal kid, into computers and technology. He'd be really athletic and good at sport.

Nicholas would be an ODE teacher. The kind students like because he cracks jokes and likes to talk to them. Alexandra would be a housewife. Or actually, maybe she would actually be a nurse. I can see her as a pediatric nurse.
