Couldn't find a thread on Prince Andrew,so instead of being "swept under the carpet""gone into oblivion" or what else,he has some space here,if you allow me.

I have much respect for Andrew in the way he handles the situation with Sarah and his daughters.

Though one may be very fond of the memory of EVII, it is is rather trying to have to contend with one 'spoilt' example of a highly similar character amongst the present ranks of the RF!

There are less 'Mountbatten' genes there then one is permitted to admit! Now there is is a subject fo debate!

I don't believe any of those rumours.  Andrew is the son of Prince Philip.  I doubt Andrew would have been named after his paternal grandfather if there had been another sire in the stables.

Andrew may be vey spoiled but I think he (and his sister Anne comes in second place) is the most down-to-earth and normal of the whole bunch.

I agree. It seems the basis of the rumors seem to be that the couple went through a period of rumored estrangement and then suddenly (and after a decade) a new baby appears. More than unfaithfulness, it seems to me that it could've been a sign of a marriage that was under strain following EII's becoming Queen (and Philip's trouble dealing with his position) undergoing a period of rejuvenation--especially with Edward's birth following not too long after.

Reading this, I simply had to laugh, trying to imagine the poor Queen as a young mother and a new monarch even having the energy to have an affair!

Seriously, think of the logistics!  Unlike the other royals, the Queen doesn't simply "pop over" to spend a night with private friends.  She sleeps every night at BP, Windsor, Hollyrood, Sandringham or Balmoral.  When she rarely spends the night elsewhere, she is accompanied by dressers, maids, security, footmen, pages, private secretaries, equerries, and even her own doctor.  (which probably explains her lack of invitations to weekend house parties!!).

Sorry - a woman like the Queen simply wouldn't allow herself to play out an affair in full view of an army of courtiers, staff, and servants.

Getting back to Andrew;  Is he doing anything other than playing golf in his retirement?  Where is he living?  Was Southyork sold?

TampaBay

He lives at Royal Lodge which was given to him after the death of the Queen Mother.  He also has rooms at Buckingham Palace.

As for Southyork, I think it's now being used for the new Channel 4 series "Britain's Tackiest Homes and Gardens".  ;)

Likewise, TampaBay, I am surprised to say.  :o

Andrew comes across here as quite a well balanced, humble man which isn't how I've always thought of him...
