Xmas photos?

Hi everyone

I was wondering if with christmas so close anyone knows if any christmassy photos of the imperial family exist? All I've seen is one of OTMA sat around an xmas tree - very cute! I was wondering if anyone knew of any more?

Hmmm... Unless photos were taken during the gift-giving between OTMAA and the servants, I don't think so. And besides, if there were photos taken past 1914-15, it would be difficult to ID because the christmas trees had been banned. And I love that photo, too! Last time I saw it was on the old AP album.

I can't remember to be honest, it was ages ago! I'm not sure whether it was but the ages look right for it to of been taken at the same time as the one with the xmas tree.

I believe the one Rachael posted was taken in the Mauve room. I've never heard of it being a Christmas photo, but who knows...?  ;)

look at the girl's dresses
the christmas one they have long sleeves
and in the Mauve room one.. they have short sleeves

Sorry to be picky, but here's what I think:

1. Theres no way to tell if the photo Rachael posted is actually an Xmas photo unless we found the original and it is dated. There's no evidence in the photo to see if it is from Christmastide.

2. If this IS a photo of the girls at christmas, perhaps it was taken a few days later.

3. Christmas wasn't the most special holiday for the Romanovs; it was Easter. In my opinion, neither of them would have many pictures because a) Easter was a solemn occasion involving church and b) Christmas wasn't very special. I only have three photographs of my family at Christmastime that can be distinguishable, most of the occasion is on tape.

Is it possible Nicholas might have taped OTMAA on Christmas, just for the fun of it, and the tapes are now lost?

Just my opinion, no one really needs to agree with me.  :)

You're right Tatianolishka. I personally think those dresses would've been very cold at christmas, especially in Russia.. ;) Aren't they summer dresses?

that does look like christmas..
but wouldn't at chistmas be snowing in Russia
