Anastasia's Medical Records

Is there a website with her medical records? I've heard she had hallux vulgus, stomach ailments, back problems and I was wondering if it was true that she had syncope(I forget what website).

Though I can't quote an exact source for you right at this minute, I read that especially during the attempts to identify the bones at Ekaterinburg, there were no medical or dental records in existence (or available to anybody at the time) to be found for any of the Imperial Family.  The ailments you speak of, I believe were passed on  through those who had known the Grand Duchess before the revolution. There was a big deal about the absence of these records considering that the Romanovs were the most well cared for, coddled Royal families in Europe.

Thanks. That IS odd. Why would they destroy the medical records?

There has been much debate about whether they really WERE destroyed as the Bolsheviks documented everything else in the archives about the family.  Perhaps they simple haven't surfaced yet due to the Anastasia/anna anderson controversy.  Neither side wants to be wrong.  But if they were destroyed, IMO it was probably due to the Bolsheviks wanting to hide their crime and it would be a deterrent to identifying the bodies if found.

I do not believe the Medical Records were destroyed.

I'm with you.  It is my opinion that they are were definitely preserved.  I just didn't want to completely discount anybody else's opinion as I have absolutely no proof or sources to quote regarding these "missing" medical records.  It's just my own personal belief.  it always seemed unlilkely that of all things, the medical records would have been destroyed.  They simply, imo, haven't surfaced.

I think that Soviet Archives had much to show, yet. We must be very far to know all they must have inside. A lot of records surfaced since Communism was overthrown, so we could expect to have many new things to know and analyze, even new pics.

Bolsheviks claimed they had destroyed all they had about the Romanovs, as if they wanted to erase them from the earth they walked on, but time showed how false this assertion was. Since the 90's years we have a lot of "new" Romanov stuff. I even wonder if Bolsheviks distroyed all the family new pics from Ekaterinburg...

Years to come seems to be perfect for those who are avid of new Romanov lore!  ;D

Maybe people back then did not care so much about their health. I do not realy think the medical records were destroyed.

According to Wikipedia, syncope is the dropping of letters in a word: 'over' becomes 'o'er' and 'never' becomes 'ne'er'. I'd never heard that Anastasia had a speech impediment! That's interesting.

You never heard that she did because she didn't. Syncope in grammatical terms is the shortening of a word, such as in poems and songs. But, in medical terms, "syncope" is a brief loss of consciousness caused by a temporary deficiency of oxygen in the brain. I've never heard of Anastasia having frequent fainting spells so I'm curious as to where GrandDuchessAnastasia heard this.
"Господь им дал дар по молитвам их размягчать окаменелые наши сердца за их страдания..Мне думается, что если люди будут молиться Царской Cемье, оттают сердца с Божией помощью."

Yes. Holly is right. "Syncope" is exactly what you said it is. Syncope could be caused by deficiency of oxygen in the brain, and one of its causes could be cardiac troubles. Did Anastasia really suffered from "syncope"  in these very medical terms? Sincerily, I ignored it.

However, she indeed had frequent fainting spells. If you read the letters she wrote to her parents and friends, you'll notice many of them. But all her sisters would make grammatical  mistakes when writing. That was pretty common in them. Maybe it was for they are not excellent students, to said the least  ;D. And of course, speaking and writing as they did, more than a language, it is pretty normal that they would make grammatical mistakes.

But now, I think that GranduchessAnastasia was referring to the mistakes she would make SPEAKING...Am I wrong? I think I never read anywhere that Anastasia had these kind of problems. her speech seems to have been quite common and normal...Isn't it? The writing..Oh; this is just another story.

The only time I've ever heard of Anastasia fainting is in some accounts of the execution. Supposedly, when they started shooting, she fainted. But, there's no proof of that being true. Anastasia definetly didn't have fainting problems, otherwise I think we would have heard about it before. Now, her grammar is another story entirely! But, Maria's spelling and grammar were just as awful.

She also had a weak muscle in her back, I believe. Didn't she have to have weekly massages for this or something? Correct me if I am wrong.
