Marie in kimono photo and Romanov fashion trends?

I love that picture...this is actually the photo that first piqued my interest into the Romanovs - as a joke, actually.  We had been doing searches on Google Images of names - mine and my friends', and when looking for my girlfriend's name (incidentally Marie Nikolaevna, patronymically) stumbled on this image.  I find it funny that, in this picture, they look kind of alike too, especially in the face.  (Now I tease her by calling her Mashka and all names therein associated).

Marie is the daughter I'm most interested in, for numerous reasons; and I think it's rather funny that they say that she might've been the survivor instead of Anastasya.

Anyhow, thank the powers that be that this site exists - it's been a good reference and resource for the numerous school projects regarding the Romanovs that I've volunteered for at college.

I would definitely have to agree with you...Alexei may have been the Tsarsevich, but...he doesn't do much.  Granted, I wouldn't either if it was that easy to bleed to death.  Like my signature says...it especially applies in Alexei's case.

I used the kimono photo and the photo of Marie in the hat in a Wikipedia article about Marie. I thought they were likely in the public domain. Does anyone know for sure? If they aren't, I probably ought to have them deleted.

I saw this photo thousand of times here and there...Don't worry...anyone should get you in jail for you published this pic! I even have it in an old magazine from 1916!!

I'm not sure. Copyright on photos expires after 75 years, but unless you own a copy of the photo yourself (such as an old postcard, for example -- but NOT as part of a book) I believe you technically need to obtain the permission of the archive or private collector who does own the photo before you can post it. The best person to ask around here is Marlene.

 I do like that photograph of Maria in kimono it looks pretty. RealAnastasia about the wikipedia website photograph being okay to ues or not. I think it is alright to use they would not mind but it would have been better to ask, but its okay since it is a encyclopidia website and the pictures are free to uses for the public. For a example it says this for another Olga,Tatiana and Maria photograph. Look below the picture and it has the licensing area there on this website link:
