If I remember correctly, Tatiana even wrote in a letter after her head was shaved the second time that she was so happy she didn't have to wear a wig.
That is true. It's quoted somewhere on the forums, but I'll try to find the letter in my collection and repost the quote here.

I've been told that the girls did have hairpieces made of their own hair after their heads were shaved, but I always wondered how they would have acquired such a luxury while under house arrest? ???

In Anastasia's Album, the person who took this photograph said that they had scarves to conceal the fact that they had no hair.  Since he didn't say "Wigs", it may be that such a luxury did not exist and they made due with what they had.

Tobolsk
27 February 1918

My dear Rita,
Thank you very much for your long, nice letter number 1 from January 8th which we have only just received.  It is terrible how long it took to reach us; still, I was very glad to get it.

I put number 3 on this letter, for it is the third since New Year.  Did you get the others? We had no letters from Olya for quite awhile.  I don't know how she is, but we have heard from somebody that she married a Maliniovsky.  Did you know that?

No news from Veta, so that I don't know her whereabouts and what is going on with her.

Our hair has grown, it is as long as in that picture after I had typhus, with the ribbon in it, do you remember?  It grows much quicker now because I think first we had our heads shaved twice and secondly we did not wear wigs so it was much more comfortable.  The first time I was ashamed of myself as I was all alone, but now we are all four in the same state!

I wish I could see the ocean, even with one eye.

A few days ago the weather was like in the spring, and the last two days it has been windy and cold again.

We often think of all of you.  Give our best regards to N.D.  I hope his health has improved.

Rita darling, please write again.  Best, very best wishes.  We have no letters from Lili.  God bless you.  I kiss you, Zina and Dalya.  Regards to P.S. and Sergey.  A few days ago a year had passed since we listened to music with them at night, by the fireside, do you remember?  It was so nice.  I kiss you.

Your loving Tatiana.

I think she's wearing a wig in that last one Emily.

Looks like she's wearing her hair up in this one, although she doesn't look sixteen yet.
Here's one too, but it's not in great quality :-\

Well, they did wear wigs actually, not so much as Tatiana did in 1319 though.
I don't think their hair would've grown so much in a couple of months, that's why I think she's wearing a wig.

1917, during their house arrest at the AP.

It could have been taken *before* their heads were shaved. The house arrest began in March, and their heads weren't shaved until mid-June.  ;)

Really? Hmm..ok, my mistake then  ;)
But I don't really get it.. The girls were sick when the tsar abdicate, at least, that's what I heared, in March. Why is their hair shaved in June then? :-\

actually now that i think about it three!!

and the one your talking about  :)
It's not up in the first one, her hair is just short! And in the second one, she had her hair shaved before that I believe though I can't be certain. They had hats and things that had fringe on them also.

Well they had their heads shaved while they were taking antibiotics so I think it was shaved while they were still getting over it. I remember reading somewhere that the hats they had on had this little fringe at the front so it looks like they have hair.

It looks nothing like any of the grandduchesses.  The clothing also suggests a later date, 1907-1915.  All of the grandduchesses would've been too old by that point.  The person is probably trying to scam someone.

Nope. I think the seller is incorrect.
