I visited the castle at Sondershausen in October. It is being beautifully restored and has a fascinating collection of family portraits. It is also a suitable backdrop for a music concert in Summer.

Unfortunately I don't have many individual images. I enclose a tantalizing glimse of one of the rooms from  the corridor of ancestral portraits.

The imposing portraits on the far wall are Günther Friedrich Karl II (1801-89) and his wife Matilde of Hohenlohe-Oehringen (1814-88). To the right of her are some Hohenlohe portraits of her family (not visible on this image)

Yes,I have visited Sondershausen Schloss this year.The Castle is just packed with portraits of Schwarzburg family and their relatives,even more then Castle Heidecksburg,but unfortunately it is forbidden to take pictures in the Castle and the guards are just "flowing" around the rooms...

To the right are miniature portraits of Mathilde's Hohenlohe-Oehringen family-father Prince August,mother Princess Luise,born Wuerttemberg and her and two brothers Princes Friedrich and Hugo...

The other left side are portraits; from left to right: Princess Marie Gasparine von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen,born von Sachsen-Altenburg,Prince Karl Gunther von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen,Princess Karoline von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen,born von Schwarzburg-Rudolastadt and below portraits of Princess Karoline von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt,born von Hessen-Homburg and Prince Ludwig Friedrich II von Schwarzburg-Rudolastadt...
