There is a lighter one that was intended as a gift for Peg Hesse...

Is it on the occasiion of the wedding or engagement?
It says: "Zur Erinnerung an die Vermaehlung Sr. Kg. Hoheit des Grossherzogs Ernst Ludwig von Hessen mit Prinzessin Eleonore zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich in Darmstadt", so this card was published on the occasion of their wedding.
"The Correspondence of the Empress Alexandra of Russia with Ernst Ludwig and Eleonore, Grand Duke and Duchess of Hesse. 1878-1916"
"Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig and Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine in Italy - 1893"
"Ludwig IV, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine - Gebhard Zernin's Festschrift"

I think the images posted on top are the guests. Not too many pics on this second wedding.

Eleonore's siblings attended the wedding, and so did Victoria and Irene and their husbands, but Ella & Sergei  and Alix & Nicholas and their children were, of course, not present, because of the situation in Russia.

Maybe due to the nature of it being a 2nd wedding after a rather scandalous divorce? It was a pretty quiet, low-key affair. There could be private photos somewhere.

A tiara? Are you referring to the moonstone one or a different one?

I think the reason for the quiet marriage was due to both the age of the bride (she was already 33) as well as her status as a princess from a mediatizated Dukedom whcih was considered unequal.
Eleonore had a difficult standing at the Imperial German Court - it was certainly much different at the courts in London and Petersburg

I think there might be private photos of the wedding just for the family ? I was surprised none came up in books.  :(

THomas. are you sure that tis marriage was unequal? Of cours, she was from the mediatized family but,as far as I know, marriage with a member of a mediatized family was considered equal. Many of the formerly ruling houses were mediatized. They did not rule and didn`t have kingdoms or dukedoms  to rule but their blood remained "pure" enough. I have soe doubts about this opinion. May be, Eleanor was looked down in Berlin because she was a minor, insignificant princess? Was she received at The Imperial Court in Berlin? If she was than her blood was "good enough".
The reason for the quiet marriage was rather Ernst Ludwig`s scandalous divorce.Well, every divorce was perceived as a scandal and indecency. What do you think?
