No, the first letter is a S (in Old German "Gothic" handwriting).

Could be,but the last 4 letters were "ssin"...Could the letter P be written similarly with S and that this way of personal handwriting is making confusion?Everyone of us doesn't write as written in the vocabulary...we all have our way of writing certain letters...

I agree it's possible, but that would be an unusual P. The loop is just so typical of an Old German capital S.

Its a "P" and the word means indeed Prinzessin - its not the "Old German Script" but a more modern form, so the alphabet posted above is not concerned to it!

Nice painting of Nene's handsome husband. I don't think this was in the Sotheby's sale.

No! Gloria didnĀ“t sell everything. The uncle of Johannes, Max Emanuel, was angry about her, because she made this auction.

Alberts was really fashion-conscious.

Has anyone a picture of Karl Ludwig von Thurn und Taxis (1863-1942)?

He was the husband of Maria Teresa of Portugal/Braganza.

One of the many T&T-Braganza Marriages.  ;)
