"...In most of the photos she looks quite man-like."

That´s hard! But it´s right...

...and at the same time some contemporaries said Furstin Margaretha resembled Queen Marie Antoinette!!..well, if only a very slight resemblance in profile...

This photo is a little bit kinky.

A postcard to an anniversary.

ADss Margareth looks like a Chritmas Tree.

A second Queen Mary.

Two, let's say, not very beautiful women charged as much as they can to hide what nature deprived them of, focusing on the bling.

Nice pictures, Svetabel ! Both ladies were not "typical" beauties...
Are there any photos of Margareth with her younger sisters Elisabeth (1883-1958) and Klothilde (1884-1903)?

I think neither of Klotilde's daughters were typical beauties. Klotilde when she was young looked more nice than her daughters. For me still the most lovely one was Elisabeth who remained single while her sisters Dorothea and Margaretha did good marriages to rich Princes. Their sister, the plain Klotilde died young never married.

Margarethe, the wife of Albert

[/quote] The tiara which was made for the Empress Eugenie was in the sale of the French Crown Jewels in 1887.A century later it returned to the Louvre when sold by Sothebys in the great Thurn und Taxis sale.

Margarethe
The gems in this picture were emeralds and with the exception of the large stomacher are still in the Thurn und Taxis collection.

Yes, as Marie Antoinette, we had discussed this question earlier. Her family considered she had a resemblance to ill-famous Queen of France. IMO only very slight resemblance in profile.

The family of the Tuscany branch of Hapsburg's thought Louisa of Tuscany (later Crown Princess of Saxony and later X-Crown Princess)  looked like Marie Antoinette of France, or was that just interested in queen's life, like how Alix of Russia (nee Hesse) was? I don't know.  :P
