I think it is crazy. I am aware that they didn't know that smoking was bad back then, but at least they knew not to smoke on big objects. They should have had common sense to know that the hay is very dangerous to be in the cigarette. Yeah I think that they all smoked on that day Maria, Olga and Tatiana as well. I agree, I think Tatiana just exhaled some smoke before Anastasia got the cigarette while the photo was taken. Do you think they could have shared that same cigarette? Because I think so.

yeah, it is kinda crazy...I mean even is they didn't know it was bad then it could have made them sick or if they had lived longer it could have long time affects on them all!  And smoking around the hay is just not good!

And yes, it does appear to me that they are sharing a cigarette...

Yeah. I always tought that Irina was a tatiana look-a-like. But Tatiana has much more life in her face than Irina. I don't know exactly why, but there is somethin I can't explain that makes that I don't like Irina as much as I love the Tsar four daughetrs.

I am in no way saying smoking isn't unhealthy or a good habit, but it's certainly not the worst thing you can breathe in. Car exhaust isn't much better for you, and we all breathe that in on a daily basis. (Still, I'm not encouraging anyone to smoke!)

I agree that Irina fit right in with OT! Does anyone know of any pics taken of OTMA(A) together? It's a real shame if none were taken!

The one with Olga in the lazaret is new for me, amazing one! Where is it from? You wrote it is 1915. How is that known? Do you know who are the wounded men?

I should have put ca 1915. It was taken between late 1914 and 1915 based on the photos from the same period that surrounded it. I do not know the identity of their patients. Here are some other pictures of them from that album - they are part of the Beinecke Yale Collection.
