Oh, okay. I don't know if it's just the quality of your copy, but it kind of looks like Maria's eyes have shifted a tad, so that she's not looking so directly at the camera. It probably is the same photo, especially considering that unless two photos were taken in very quick succession (and back then, cameras probably couldn't do that), Maria would have to be an extraordinary toddler to sit SO very still that only her eyes moved.

Yeah actually now looking at it again it does look like she is praying who knows maybe she was praying for the patience of dealing with having whom ever was photographing... when she didn't want to be photographed? but yes seriously i do think it was just "bad timing" probably!

It's so rare for me to see a picture where Tatiana reads. Does anybody know one but post it in Tatiana's thread please :-)

Well, Shandroise, I looked and this is all I could find. I don't know if you want to count them, nor do I know if Tatiana is actually reading in the second photo (but her eyes are cast down as if she is, although the name of the photo says she's at a piano...).

I used to think that 2 but looking more closely at it now, it looks more like a desk than a piano and if u trace to where her hands seems to be they seem to be like on some book or newspaper or something so hmm... i don't know!

As for the first one it's a picture of her in a lesson she's in the classroom learning. Except for I don't remember who her tutor is there though i think it's the one that started with a "P" I think I read the name somewhere and now i don't remember!

I don't know much about this topic... Did she (or even her sisters too) have much tutors?

I think there are threads somewhere that mention lessons and what kind of student each were. I think it was in Maria's that there was a thread that mentioned things like Art, Music (Dance/Piano), Russian, English (Language), History, etc... the kind of subjects they had to take!
