I really do think it is Alix.  I mean we never really have seen her in such a act before maybe the face is a bit distoreted because she is being silly  ;D  Yes maybe Alix was doing her hair a different way circa 1910 but maybe one day she to hell with it I am on a boat no one will see me so I would like simple.

She certainly IS Alix, and she wore this kind of hairstyle in some moment of her life. I saw a pic of Isa Buxhoeveden in Penny Wilson's book and she is different.

It sure looks like Alix, but if Lanie says it isn't, I'm unsure. Lanie is hardly ever wrong, but then again...

it looks a lot like Alix.

I remember us all discussing this photo ages ago and us deciding this was Isa, not Alix...  to me it looks nothing like her, the nose and eyes for example, the chin...

How about some photos of Isa for comparison?

Personally, I think it's Alix, based on the style of her clothing and especially her jewelry -- the pearl necklace, the bracelets (two on each arm), and the very large pearl earrings. All of that jewelry was typical to Alix, while Isa wears either no visible jewelry or a long string of dark beads and a brooch -- never earrings. Alix was a larger woman than Isa, and the proportions of this woman seem more in line with Alix than Isa. Isa also had a noticable gap between her front teeth which doesn't appear in this photo.

That said, am I the only one who's got a feeling the roller skate photo may have been retouched/manipulated? The shading on Alix/Isa's face and hair has never looked right to me.

I agree that the woman in the roller skating picture is Alix. To me, Isa looks nothing like that woman. But Sarushka, retouched in what way? To correct certain features on Alix?

Retouched to create that goofy pose, maybe. ;)

I don't think it's Alix, because of the hairstyle.  This would have been taken around, what, 1910ish, and Alix had picked up the weird heart-shaped hairstyle by then that she wore a lot in 1912.

Lisa is definatley right!
its isa.. not alix!!

even though the characteristics... are stricking!!

 :D

Aloha all!

Boy, I still have my doubts on this one!  While I agree the "pose" is not typical of Alix -- something about the way she is carrying herself and her very typically "Alix" willowy, tall shape -- just seem to say Alix to me!  Also what she is wearing seems classically Alix as well.

Put me in the Alix camp I'm afraid!   :-\

Here is some artwork of Tatiana's. I think she and Maria were most talented in that area.  ;)

Tatiana's good at sketching but I think Olga and Marie are better in watercolor drawings.

Probably just goofing off. But I have noticed she doesn't seem too concerned about dropping her camera in the water.

Anastasia looks like she's biting her nails. Very unladylike, don't you agree :)? And Tatiana is carrying a purse in the pic. I wonder what for. It's not like they're going shopping. ;D I wonder if Maria jumped on the chair, or was she already on the chair and Nicholas II pushed her with his cain.
