Russian emigrees in Hollywood
« on: February 19, 2007, 05:00:08 AM »
In Hollywood in the 1920's there was a colony of White Russian refugees many of them nobility and high ranking ex - officers who had fled from the Bolsheviks via Siberia and made a living, working as dress extras. They could be trusted to look well in uniform or white tie and tails and to behave with confidence in any scene, have there been   any books published on these colorful Russians ;)

I have a Hollywood studio portrait of Princess Natalia Pavlovna Paley, daughter of Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia and his second, morganatic, wife Princess Olga Paley.

Helen Hayes portrayed the Empress Dowager Marie in the movie Anastasia- 1954, not Eugenie Leontovich, maybe she was in the play ;)

Eugenie Leontovich in the play, along with Viveca Lindfors as Anna.
