Looking for Old Photographs of Pre Revolution Society Life
« on: March 03, 2007, 05:21:07 AM »
Hi, I'm doing a research paper on the memoirs of a man who lived as a child just before and during the October Revolution. As part of my paper, I'd like to include some illustrative photographs of the region and culture associated with the time of the memoir.

The memoir covers Pre-Revolution high society life, like women's and children's clothing, Azerbaijani and Kazak (Terek) peoples, Budjion's cavalrymen, and White Russian cavalry soldiers: Lieutenant's uniform in particular.

Also, the housing style and environment of the Terek River, Grozny, Sernovodsk, Troitsk in Maykop, Anapa and Baku: particularly the "Rosa Luxembourg Secondary School" and the Black Sea Coastal Patrol.

I will eventually make the memoir available on the web for general access an will acknowledge any photographic contributions (electronic scans only) made.

Is there anyone on this forum who may be able to help me?

This isn't really a photo but it's a reproduction of an interesting newspaper article

click to enlarge- it takes you to a page with other old pics.

I'm sure you long ago completed your research paper, but in case anyone else needs help with a similar project, I would recommend this website: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/pp/prokhtml/prokback.html
