Any news from the Ilynskys?
« on: March 12, 2007, 09:10:49 AM »
How is the family doing? I think I read in an article somewhere that Prince Michael Ilynsky (sorry if I got it wrong!) planned to do some projects in Russia to kind of "rehabilitate" the Romanov name? I don't remember what project it was exactly, or the link of the source (this was a while back), but I think it has something to do with a reconstruction of a tower...or a bell...I'm completely lost. Any news on anything, I'll be thankful for! :D I'm just curious as to how GD Dmitri's descendants are doing! And does anyone know what happened to his collection of lead soldiers?

If Prince Michael needs to find a bell maybe he can ask RichC.  RichC says his grandmother went to a church in Conneticut where the tsar sent them a bell when they buiilt it back then.  I think it has Nicholas name on it so maybe it would help them rehabillitate the tsar if they have some place to hang it.  In Russia I mean becuase I think its already hanging at the grandmother's church.

The Grand Duke's family has done very well in the United States. The family members all have their own interests and live relatively ordinary lives. Michael Ilyinsky is the son most interested in the family history and for the longest time. I have written him several times and have found him to be cordial and articulate. The eldest son, Dmitri, is only recently developing interest in his Imperial heritage. I've never written to him or met him but understand him to be a fine gentleman.

I googled Prince Michael to see what hes doing and found a link of his photography http://www.glamourcon.com/interview/jasmine.html     I hope the Russians don't find this if they want him to renabilitate the tsar's good name because it might take more than bells after they see this.   haha

Good for Dmitri, maybe he can be Tsar one day! :D I've always liked this family best of those who survived.

Michael is the younger brother and apparently had some nude or semi nude photos of women posted to that link. If you consider that to be "bad", then so be it. Such representation are considered by many people to be "art".

Forget it: the rightfull heirs are the present Gd Maria V and her son George. Gd Maria, George and GD Leonida are fully respected in Russia. They are the only ones whoes titles are regonised in present Russia. And they are the most Royal persons, of all the Romanov offspring who escaped Russia.

No Teddy you are sadly mistaken. There is no rightful heir.

The Russian monarchist system dissolved on March 3 1917.

As soon as Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich signed his own name to the document affirming his position not to accept the Crown passed to him by his brother Nikolai, the monarchy was no longer a viable entity.

As for the alleged "respect" that you claim that the pretender receives in Russia where did you ever hear of such a notion?

Yes I tend to think the statement put forward by Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna when Grand Duke Cyril made a claim for the non-existent throne still rings true today.

Hi,

I agree that with the abdication of GD Michael the dynasty came to an end. It could only come back if the Russian people wsh it and decide who out of the Romonov's woud be Tsar or of course another noble family should they so wish. It is a matter for the Russian people alone to decide in their own way and time.

The Monarchy in Russia will return, historically and politically everything goes in cycles.
One day, in the future, a Romanov will return to the throne as Monarch, whether as a constituitional or autocratic one I do not even begin to guess.
Remember, it is only 90 odd years, and anything can happen in 150, 200 etc etc

Maria and her family are loathed by the other members of the Romanov family! They all have married non royal blood at some point in their families history! Nicholas Romanoff is the Head of the Romanov Family and even he has said its up to the Russian people! End of story!
