I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm not too late joining this thread.  You can all still view the rooms on the site in 360 degrees by getting the necessary plug-in from www.ipix.com.  The Russian version of the site has links to download and install the plug-ins for IE and Netscape, but they seem to have forgotten to enable the links on the English site.  I hope this helps, because I sure enjoyed the 360* views of the private apartments!

unfortunately, it doesn't work w/ macs....and i even got IE & netscape specifically to get it to work... w/ no luck.   
so i, still, have never experienced  the "walk-thru" myself. 

but thanks to reco, i've seen some that which would have remiained unseen (by me, at least ;-)

I don't believe the painting is of Tatiana Yusupov. From a distance the dress seems to be the Edwardian era. Trying to find a close up of the painting.

it's always looked rather empire-ish to me...
but i can see edwardian aspects.   so, needless to say, i have no idea  :-)

although it could be Irina, i don't think it is (but if it is, it's a VERY bad likeness).

at present, my guess would be it's a random portrait placed there so the wall wouldn't be blank.
i mean, the entire Yusupov art collection was carted off,  much of it ending up in the Hermitage.
some things may have been returned over the years or copies of artworks that used be in the collection.
but i think it's very possible this portrait may have no Yusupov connection at all.  

it may be that at some point, as they were restoring, refurnishing &, generally, becoming a museum, they felt a need to break up the big, blue, blank space on that back wall...  and, wherever it came from, someone thought it was pretty & appropriate for the space.


that's my guess.

Yes, here I agree - probably that just covering the wall with some proper paiting/portrait.

This is a portrait of unknown girl with a flowers. Painting of 1914 was owned by Yusupovs. Artist is Shtemberg if i'm not mistaken. This canvas is a piece of an interior decoration, not native for this drawing room.

as for me, I hoped to get some interesting and unique photos from the Moika Palace. I was there last week. BUT! they are so strange: the exhibition of their documents, photos and personal belongings is opened only at winter time!! also I couldn't visit the private chambers of the family and the Rasputin exhibion. The last one is opened only once a day at 1.45 pm and you should buy tickets at 10 am cuz later they are sold out. So, I visited only some halls and rooms that were not that interesting.
why can't they open all the parts of the palace and all the exhibion to every day visit?..

It's a usual situation for small museums. They are not the Hermitage or the Catherine Palace which can afford mobs of excited tourists. Such Palace as the Yusupovs is a sort of "family museum" - so, only guided tours at strictly fixed hours.
