Is this right? When would this be approximately and which cities will this tour cover? I have been waiting for this musical to come out for two years because I love the soundtrack!

BTW, I didn't know that there was a Jesus Christ Superstar Farewell Tour going on now...

What he told me was that when the Farewell Tour is over (which is in 2008) he'll be returning to tour with Rasputin. Apperantly that was going to come first, until he was asked to do the JCS tour. I didn't ask where it would tour, but these kinda of shows seem to travel in big circles and hit several places.

There have been several JCS "farewell" tours. I think one is going through Britain now, another in North America. Sort of like Cher or Barbra Streisand. [one more time]

There are several going on, aren't there? Hmm...well it was defined as the first "rock opera" so it doesn't surprise me.

I was refering to the one in North America, with Ted Neeley. This is the one that will be over in '08, sorry for not being very clear.  :)

Thanks. I guess we can expect it some time in '09...

I watched the 15 minute musical video and it is awesome! Ted Neeley rocks! I'm sure he'll do something miraculous himself on stage as Father Grigori!

I still think Ozzy himself would make a cool and creepy Rasputin.

Why not?  A musical recently opened anout the diary of Anne Frank. And another about an affair  of a frenchwoman with an occupying Nazi officer in Paris.

It is interesting I have to say, but its sad they use Historical people to make money, but if that is a way to get more people interested in the IF...

But it's sad still, aldo i'm not surprised.

There have been musicals about Queen Astrid, Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Princess Diana, Evita, Titanic and Anne Frank so why not about Imperial Russia, as long as it isn't all ficition and it works as something entertaining, yet respectful it isn't bad, but it's still sad they make money of people or events that captivate the world, and thus will sell.

I would not be surprised.  But Mel Brroks did one already- The Producers!
I enjoyed both film versions of The Producers.Thought they were equally as good though thirty years apart.Heard about the stage show .Friends saw it in Sydney and Melbourne.Sounds entertaining.A local amateur theatre group put on a well received production recently. No one seemed upset abut being sung to by Hitler.

Producers is very funny and a huge success. "Springtime for Hitler..." is a classic parody and most entertaining. That is what theatre [and film for that matter] entertainment above all. Tell a story an hope people will come watch it.  If one is looking for education- try reading a book or two.
As for using historical figures as topics- why not? They are just that- historical.  In most cases that is what makes  most people interesting enough to  be a topic in the first place. They cannot be harmed if they are dead, can they?

I actually just received the Libretto of this musical.

It stars Ted Neely who played Jesus Christ Super Star.  His voice is very recognizable and very pleasant.
This is not a sound track that is easily available.
I can't give you my source as it is not a store but a friend.

My take on the title  "Rasputin - Miracles Lie in the Eye of the Beholder" is that miracles can lie differently to those who see them.

We keep being told that the play will go into production when Neely finishes his "goodbye" tour of Jesus Christ Super Star, but as he is still saying goodbye, who knows?

Aloha all!

I purchased the 3CD set of "Rasputin" a couple of years ago - I personally like a lot of the music in it and would have loved to have the opportunity to see any form of this in the theatre!   :)

Some of the music reminds me of "Les Miserables" a little.  If you can find the set - in my opinion it is very worthwhile - I believe I purchased it thru the website at that time.

I still listen to it occasionally.
