Princess Sofi was beautiful, and it is a nice picture. ;)

she was pretty, But a not suitable Candidate for the wife of the Tsarevitch. I found the more suitable Princesses:

Princess Ileana of Romania (Alexei said childishly he'll marry her one day.*aww*)
Princess Elisabeth of Greece.-
Princess Olga of Greece.- (Olga and Elisabeth were good friends with Alexei).
Princess Irene of Greece.
Princess Marina of Greece.
Princess Euengie of Greece ( Later on, she write a book about him)
Princess Marie Jose of Italy.
Daughters of Kings, of Grand Dukes etc..

"A Royal Highness" would do, not a noble Princess. Sadly. more sad Alexei never lived to see his 14 b-day.

Perhaps, Grand Duchess Marie and Princess Sofi have a resemblance, what does anyone else think?

They have a resemblence in that particular picture.  Just because people can look alike at certain poses does not mean they look alike overall.  I resemble Maria in certain pictures too, because we both have plump faces and large eyes, this does not mean I look like her.

I agree, as the only on here that agrees so far... ;)
I fink that all royal families (to say, their realtives) look alike or share similarities. I know I have asked this before, and keep on forgetting, but are almost all royal families related, some, most??
Thanks for your answeres from the previous times I asked, and please and thank you for any answers this time.  :)

Just about. Queen Victoria made many good marriages for her children/grandchildren. Her descendants are scattered all over Europe. Same with Christian IX of Denmark. Hope this helps Sofi. :)

P.S--The Japanese and Korean families were also closely related.

It is true, it might be only that picture that there is a resemblance, but are many pictures have we seen of Princess Sofi? Not as many as Grand Duchess Marie, so it is rather hard to judge. I don't know if they were related, perhaps distantly. But in general Royal families were closely related.

The picture resembles a picture of Maria when she is in a similar position and she and Anastasia are under a table playing around.  Maria is smiling the same way and her head is in the same direction.

Yes, you are right about the photo! Could you find it somewhere, because I don't have it although I have seen it.

Jelisaveta, I was wondering if you have come across any mention of the Dolgoruky family servants who acompanied the family out of Russia. There was a maid Louise, a manservant Churiloff, and two English nurses, one named Miss King.

Thanks!

For anyone interested, today's "Woman's Hour" on BBC Radio 4 interviewed Sofka's grandaughter about a biography she's written based on her diaries.  It includes a clip from the original BBC Woman's Hour interview with Sofka from 1990, which I heard first time round and which caused me to write to her.

ps it's availble to listen to again on the BBC website.

Sofka was a dear 'babu' for many dispalced  emigre compatriots who were fortunate enough to cross her path. My mother,  for example, was one those fortunate few. With a book shop in Cornwall, her family scattered across the globe, Mummy met Sofka, as an infrequent customer and estabished a warm friendship ignited by the discovery of the bond of Russian roots. Russian blood seems to me to be like mercury!
Sofka was an extraordinary character, warm, kind, tey in some vague but certain way, always detatched. She was wonderfully kind and indugent to us as children...heaps of goodies on the table and kisses at the door..! The moor so suited her!
