I am trying to locate a copy of this documentary series by Anna Lerche about Christian IX and his family.  I was sure it was available, but it doesn't seem to be listed on Amazon.  Can anyone help?
So long and thanks for all the fish

I do not think it is available in the US. However, Majesty magazine was selling the region 2 version and you might try Amazon UK. You need an all-region player to watch it though.

Thanks, I was sure there was a Region 1 version considering that it's been playing here on PBS stations...

The program has not been released to the US DVD market, Ilana.  Various independent PBS stations bought the rights to the program. DVD regions are irrelevant to sales to television.  The program would have been converted to NTSC to be shown in North America.   The DVD sold by Majesty and in stores in denmark (I got my from gad.dk) is region 2 PAL.

Hi Ilana,                                                                                                                                                          The series A Royal Family, the 6 part documentary on the History of the Danish Monarchy
is available in Australia through the SBS TV channel and Dymock book stores.

Australia is in the DVD Zone 4, a multi world region DVD player helps

This is truly an excellent series and very objective when it comes to Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna. It is excellent about Maria Feodorovna. It can be purchased through ABC SHops online in Australia.

Does anyone know if the DVD and book of A Royal Family are sold anywhere in Copenhagen?  I will be there in a few months and am wondering if I can purchase them there.  I have a multi-region DVD player so it won't be a problem.

You might check with the publishers- Egmont Lademann A/S /  Aschehoug in Copenhagen. But they may have only the Danish version.

I saw a copy of the book in April at the Amalienborg Palace Museum in Copenhagen. It is in English. They also have a range of different royal books if you are interested.

Great!  That is one of the places I intend to visit.  Perhaps, I'll luck out.

Has anyone sen these TV series -- nowadays Royals talked about their ascendants (Danish royal family members, Queen Margarethe, I think, Prince Hakkon too,  Prince Michael Romanov, Olga Romanov, Royal family Members of Greece, of Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, King Constantin, Prince Michael, Belgian Royal Family members, and almost all members of Europe Houses).

It includes some footage, photos, diary entries, weddings, funerals, etc.

Story is about King Christian IX of Denmark, and his descendants, including Queen Victoria's Family.

My apologies if this has been discussed before, look here.

At the end of the 1800’s, the Danish King, Christian XI and his wife, Queen Louise, married their six children into the dominating European royal families and Christian XI became known as ‘Europe’s Father-In-Law.' Today his descendants are to be found all over Europe.

These are their stories, stories of power, love, triumph, tragedy and honour, recounted through interviews and never before published letters, photographs and home movie footage, by over 30 members of the European Royal Family.

Anecdotes handed down through generations give insight into a Europe ruled by 'dynasty politics' where arranged marriages created alliances between countries.

A description.

Episode 1 – The Father-In-Law of Europe
Episode 2 – The Family Expands
Episode 3 – The Heirs of an Empire
Episode 4 – Love and Revolution
Episode 5 – Shaky Thrones
Episode 6 – Uncrowned Marriages

I discovered Thyra helped to firemen.  ;-)

'The episode Love and Revolution devoted to the fall of the Romanov dynasty is featured in the Danish television A Royal Family, a series about the descendants of King Christian IX of Denmark.'

This DVD is available from  ABC TV Australia at this address

http://shop.abc.net.au/browse/searchresult.asp?SearchID=1174589&SearchRefineID=2433777&KeyWord=a+royal+family

You would need a region free DVD player, but they are not too hard to get on line.
