Imperial Russian Needlework Panel
« on: June 01, 2007, 02:40:25 PM »

We bought an Imperial era needlwork of a troika and riders, with this inscription underneath. Can anyone help translate it? We can't make it out.

"Rush forward faster than falcon".

This line from an old song relates to a troika of horses.

A nice pre-1918 (judging by the third word's "old" form) piece of needlework. By the way, this "Coachman's Song" was almost certainly heard by N&A: it was often performed by their favorite Nadezhda Plevitskaya.
