3D Alexander Palace
« on: June 13, 2007, 09:46:45 AM »
Hello, last year I decided I would create a 3D model of the Alexander Palace so in July I went and taken over 2000 photographs of the facade and the public museum detailing what remains. The photographs lay dorment on my pc for a while as I was busy with a few Disney projects, but yesterday I began to create the Alexander Palace in 3D. It will probably take me a week to get the facade and basic interiors finished, then another few weeks polishing off- hope you enjoy!

WOW! Wonderful work! My boyfriend dabbles in 3D-Studio, so I understand the hard work put into this.
I look forward to any future updates on the project!  :)

Thank you for all the great comments!  :) Today i've managed to build sides of the left wing, theres still a bit missing but most of the main stuff is there. List of things i'm starting on the facade tomorrow- basement windows, center, right wing & roof. I've already built the outline of the rooms for the children's floor and tomorrow will be 'decorating' Olga and Tatiana's room; and if I have enough time Anastacia and Maria's.

Lovely work! I can only imagine all the work putting into designing it from the outside, but the interior as well? Marvellous!
Can I ask which 3D rendering program you're using? The amount of work you can crack out in a day in is impressive!
I look forward to future updates!  :)

Anytime! You're doing a wonderful job!
3DS Max 9? Wow! you're using the latest and greatest! My boyfriend is only using 3DS Max 8.  How long have you been doing 3D art?  You look quite professional!
I'm really excited to see the finished product. Is your model true to blueprints and scale? *two thumbs way up!*  ;D

I've been working in 3d for about 5 years now, so I was 15 when I started :P The model interior/exterior is accurate to the floorplan blueprints and scale, as for the facade details .etc i've only been working from photographs; but the results should be fairly accurate!
I forgot to mention i'm also working on character models of the last tsar and his family in zBrush, these will take a bit longer than the buildings but I started the tsar on sunday-

Thanks DNJ and Laura! Here's a few other screenshots of what i've been doing today-

The images over the last few days have been fairly repetitive, so tomorrow I shall post a few of the interior including OT/MA's rooms & the starting of the Formal Study Room of Nicholas II (which i've just started work on)! I'll also be getting the first phase of my Romanov 3D website up on www.silentasylum.com tomorrow, but i'll give a formal announcement of that later!

I won't lie, I'm glued to this project. It's a very refreshing thread and the project is wonderfully constructed.
I noticed your user-avatar says Ipatiev 3D, (it's on your site as well) do you intend on making a model of that as well?
I've very interested in your projects (if you can't tell already ;D) and look forward to your wonderful updates!
