Rumored Illegitimate Children of Sissi

Na, I don't think Elisabeth was reckless like that, to have a illegitimate child. Besides, isn't it hinted in biographies on the empress that she didn't like the whole process of conceiving and giving birth?

I do not think any of us lived to witness anything........ if she had a child out of wedlock, well, more power to her!! Just a shame she had to hide it if that was the case. Victorian times were NOT woman friendly........   I just hope that this woman at least knew some some happiness.

I really don't think that this woman resemble Empress Sissi, it was a simple rumour... were quite common those rumours of ilegitimate children of royals (of several Royal Houses) as I see, although the story sounds interesting and it gives very good material for a novel (I doubt that the book mentioned before can be really accurated in the historic way).

I do not know who "Whiskers" is, but I agree, such prospects are HIGHLY unlikely, just considering her own temperment. It is just ridiculous speculation on the part o of gossips

She resembles Sissi as much as i resemble a young Mata hari . Interesting story tho.

Here's another  closeup from the book by Nellie Ryan, a governess to the children of Archduke Karl Stefan, and she dedicated her book to "the youngest daughter" of the empress,  Karoline Franziska M. Zanardi Landi.  Just like I thought, it was some inside job -- probably with a motive for financial gain.



I don't think she looks anything like the Empress, certainly no more resemblance than Katenka Fyodorovna to the Mata Hari,

I honestly think that even Archduchesses Gisela and Marie Valerie looked more like Sissi  (and they don't resemble her very much) than the woman of the photos posted below!!
Anyways, who's the supposed father (and supposed lover of Sissi) of that woman??

I'm keeping myself from cussing at the computer.  Who are these people?!?  The last thing the Empress would do would have an affair, much less have illegit children.  I'll admit Elissa looks similar, but even I look similar to Elisabeth and I KNOW I'm not a Hapsburg.  I'm half Asian for crying out loud.

I couldn't resist the idea of reading the famous book "The Secret of an Empress" for being it available online... (I'm still on the first chapters) but all there sounds non sense and really difficult to believe... Sissi giving birth at her 45? Why would Sissi and Franz Joseph would not recognize a "legitimate" daughter of both? (as she calls herself)... many of the information that she gives of "her mother" reminds me a lot a previous (even like looking partially based on it) book written at 1906 by Clara Tschudi. And after knowing that Countess Larisch supported this claimant it sounded me even more suspicious and less worthy of confidence.
But good for passing the time XD

But if Countess Zanardi-Landi would be an ilegitimate daughter (in the case of she really being her daughter...?), Why was the empress allowed to keep her? Would be easier to be simply taken away  from her like in the case of Thyra of Denmark and Marie of the Two Sicilies, they never saw their ilegitimate children again.
