Ladies of the Russian Nobility in court-dress

NOBLESSE RUSSE: PORTRAITS

***i aoplogize for the lack of information regarding the individuals in the photos, but it took a really long time to scan these, so i noted their surname (as it appeared in the book) & their title (if they had one).    their christian names & patronyms were listed, as well as their maiden names (if they were married), but that would have taken more time than i had.    once again, the names are listed as they are in the book, in French.

(of the families featured, i was rather surprised at how many members of the Russian nobility, and of the Imperial Court, had no title, as such.    being obviously of noble birth, but bearing no title.)

princesse Bariatinsky

princesse Cantacuzene

princesse Galatzine

comtesse Keller

mlle Khlebikoff

princesse Cantacuzene[/b]
dressed for a bal costume given by grand duchess Vladimir (no dated given)

Possibly this lady is in the photo with Maria Pavlovna. The event is definitely the same

NOTE:
these images are from volumes 1 & 2.
i haven't gotten to volumes 4 thru 6 yet.
all this takes quite a bit of time
because the books (and the majority of the images)
are bigger than my scanner!

ERRATA:

the identification for

should actually be:

Nadejda Wladimirovna Bezobrazoff (1893-1949),
en robe de présentation a la Cour.
Elle épousa en 1917 Victor Pavlovitch Rodzianko.

Princess Elisabeth (who was the mother in law of Julia Dent Grant, Princess Michael Cantacuzene) emigrated with her daughter & family and died in 1921 (I think) in Mozambique.

comtesse Ignatieff

By the way this girl was the great love of GD Mikhail Mikhailovich whom he wanted to marry before his meeting with Countess Sophie de Torbay. :)  He was so much in love with her that even his father GD Mikhail Nikolaevich asked the Emperor's permission for his sons' marriage with Countess Ignatieva (Comtesse Ignatieff). Of course Alexander III put his veto.
