I wanted to bump this thread up because it fits with all of the others where we have been discussing Russian court dress.  The pictures that have been posted are amazing.

I want to know more about the book.  It appears to be in French (which I read rather badly), but I see that it comes in six (no less) six volumes.  It sounds expensive, but I hope not too much as I would love to own it.

Anyone out there have any more information?   ;)

princesse sérénissime Maria Wladimirovna Wolkonsky
née Louguinine  1898

**NOTE:  there was no mention of it, but she seems to be dressed for presentation at the English Court
(aka The Court of St.James).
she appears to be wearing the mandatory Prince of Wales plume of three ostrich feathers
(which were always worn slightly on the left side of the head) and the sqaure train....)

Princess Lili was the empress Alexandra's mischevious lady in waiting who tied to see Anna Anderson when she was in Paris enroute for the USA.When Anna was told that the Princess was downstairs in the foyer having very respectfully asked for an audience...Anna suprised onlookers (yet again with her knowledge of the Russian court) by summing up the Princesses character in a nutshell !!!
