The sisters of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden
« on: July 14, 2007, 02:38:01 PM »
As far as i know, the swedish King has four sisters, the princesses Margaretha, Birgitta, Desiree and Christina. What had happened to them?

Does anybody have pictures of them or information?

Mrs.Ambler,néé Princess Margaretha and John Ambler live their lives away from the spotlights.

Princess Birgitta and Johan Georg,"Hansi" of Hohenzollern each live their seperate lives,Princess Birgitta spends most of her time at her estate on Mallorca,Spain,
he in Munich.

Baroness Silverschiöld,néé Princess Desirée also chooses to live a private life with Baron Niclas Silverschiöld,but at times represents her brother the King abroad.

Princess Christina Mrs.Magnusson is married to Mr.Tord Magnusson and is the one most seen in public of the siblings as she has several Royal functions she attends to.

I believe Pss Sybilla was ambitious for her bevy of beautiful daughters. Birgitta for King Simeon, Margaretha for King Baudouin and King Constantine for Desiree but all came to nothing. Margaretha caused a stir when she wanted to marry Robin Douglas-Home . However at that time the nephew of the British Prime Minister Lord Home and grandson of Earl Spencer was not grand enough. She later settled for a life at Chippinghurst Manor with a London Stockbroker until he lost all his wealth in 1994 Lloyds Crash when they had to sell up and later divorced. Only Birgitta made a good marriage with Prince Hohenzollern but they have been separated since 1990, and she lives on Mallorca. Desiree Baroness Silverschiold is the chatellane of the charming Koberg Castle and Pss Christina married a friend she had known for 13 years.

The Hohenzollern Prince was hardly a good catch. His title comes from a defunct dynasty since 1918. That is hardly a good catch. If she had married into a reigning dynasty that would have been something. There are dime a dozen Princes from defunct royal houses.

Birgitta was very pretty when she was young. However she appears to have a penchant for clothes with bits missing.

Wasn't the Hohenzollern dynasty really defunct in 1849 when they ceded their sovereign rights to Prussia on 7 December 1849?
