Re:  Post 149:   Naturally there are biases present, as too many appear unreasonably "passionately" invested in this historical personage.  In my opinion, since he is directly referenced/quoted by the poster ("Kurth told me a couple of years ago ......."), I believe that this post (149) should be forwarded to Peter Kurth for an authentication/clarification updated comment, as well as other pertinent postings from this topic. (Alternatively, he could be invited to persuse  this entire thread.) I think that many would like to see Mr. Kurth's response.  I am certainly not interested in the DEGREE of "lewdness," but rather if the reference in question is acknowledged by Peter Kurth.  Sarashuka, would  you either contact him for comment or give a contact point that others may reach him?  Also does the poster,"Holly," have any extant direct communication IN WRITING substantiating the alleged quote ("nasty to the point of being evil") from Mr. Kurth to her?    Regards, AP

The remarks I posted here were made by Kurth on a private discussion forum. I copied the material in quotation marks to this forum verbatim. To my knowledge, they were direct quotes from his interviews with Princess Nina and Ksenia. As I have not read his book on Anna Anderson since I was a student, I'm not sure if this information has appeared in print elsewhere. When I asked Kurth whether this info was given in confidence or was fair game in public discussions, he replied as follows:

"there's no secret about any of this.  Nina knew I was writing for publication, and my conversations with Olga took place after my first book came out.  Xenia Leeds testified publicly as to ANR's "frightfully temperamental, wild and rough" personality. And in any case they're all dead now.  I'd say it's entirely fair game.  pk"

His email address is listed on his website at peterkurth@peterkurth.com.

Attention "Sarushka" and your response as Post #  152:    Very, very, very interesting, "Sarushka" !  Thank you for your immediate response. I appreciate, likewise, Mr. Kurth's contact information.  Just one further point:  Approximately how long ago was his documented reply to you?   Best regards,  AP

Attention "Sarushka" :  I appreciate very much indeed your kind and prompt reply. Obviously Mr. Kurth's reply to you was relatively recent.  It is always helpful to know such dating to put things in perspective.   Best regards.  AP

The behavior Princess Nina and Ksenia described would have happened long before the family's arrest in 1917.

Exactly, Sarushka!   Parenthetically, I wonder if any mention was made at the time, if the GD AN " labelled" in any fashion the charactertured drawings (presumptively, we are speaking of PEOPLE) in these apparently offensive drawings?  Such could potentially indicate mindset/relationships; however according to the quote/s, she would deny that these were not of her creation, thus probably no lettering, but perhaps uniforms, dresses, etc? . I am NOT interested in the comparative degrees of "lewedness."  (That could evoke a similiar fascination to one some time back from some of the younger members of this Forum, who demanded to know "EXACTLY HOW Did the Imperial Family Die?")  This question re "labeling" can be combined with the earlier question upon which Mr. Kurth can be invited to comment to the extent of his knowledge, obtained from people who were there.    Best regards,  AP

I don't think she was really vulgar or anything. Back in the early twentieth century there were a lot of people that would consider any child who said damn or hell or even much less than that to have a potty mouth. There are a lot of old women today (I'm talking from an American perspective but I doubt it was much looser in Russia) who think it's really inappropriate for a child to say they have to use the toilet in public.

For the life of me I can't imagine any of Nicholas and Alexandra's children saying anything truly vulgar like the f-word or even the s-word.

I can, especially Anastasia, who liked to curse to shock the guards watching them in 1917-18. Just because they were grand duchesses doesn't mean they aren't going to curse when their parents aren't around, just like any other kid.
