Alexis's last letter

Does anyone know anything about such a letter? I was flipping through 'The Last Tsar' by Edvard Radzinsky, and I came across a picture of a letter attached to a book, with the caption "The last letter written by Alexei before his death." I haven't been able to find anything about it, though.

I know that in his last letter to his friend Kolya Derevenko, he signed off with the words after his signature, 'The end.'.

Quite poignant, though sensible not to read too much into it - he could well have just meant it is the end of the letter, rather than any feeling that he wouldn't be writing any more letters ever.

You are absolutely right, Georgiy:  best not to read any fatalism into the Heir's last letter.  He basically said 'How are you?  How are (Various family members) and F-ff-fff-ff-feffera?  (Probably a pet's name, with which Alexei Nikolaevich had a little fun)  Greetings to the Botkins from all of us.  I kiss you.  Yours always, Alexei' and made a comically messy version of how he usually finished off his signature.

I have heard also that this was NOT, in fact, the last letter the Tsarevich sent to his friend -- that a little parcel containing a toy soldier with a gun was confiscated before Kolya Derevenko could get it.  Because Alexei Nikolaevich had written, 'I send you my little gun' the Bolsheviks were suspicious that the Imperial Family had weapons - depriving Kolya of a birthday present from his friend, the last one the Tsarevich ever gave.

Hi:

You can see the letter in this page:

We will never know what he was thinking when he wrote it but acording to the priest who went to the house just somedays before they died the had changed. And Botkin was writting a goodbye letter to his family, so who knows.

I believe he died sometime in the middle or late 1990s, but I'm not sure.  Those who do know, feel free to correct me.

From:http://alyoshasunbeam.webs.com/lettersanddiaryentries.htm

"Dear Kolya:
All sisters send greetings to you, mother, and grandmother. I feel well myself. How is grandmother´s health? What is... doing?
My head was aching all day, but now the pain has gone completely.
I embrace you warmly.... Greetings to Botkins from all  of us.
Always yours,

ALEKSEY

The end."

Not sure if it was accurate but seemed like what you were talking about....
