I know a few Russian expats and they seem to be products of administratively successful communist families. Their attitude is almost identical and that it is that Nicholas ll ruined Russia but other Tsars were great, especially Alexander l and ll. They see communism as a great thing and they obviously beneffitted from it. They are quite nationalistic about Russian culture and the arts and this would fit perfectly with the views of Romanoff family members.
On the other hand, my Romanoff friends are realisitc about the fact that there probably will not be a reinstatement of a Romanoff monarchy in Russia. One has actually moved back to Russia and is working there. He is involved in a number of things that promote Russia's history and his family's legacy.
