Somone, proably mention this but I thought nicholas had a other lover named olga somthing? Has anyone herd of this?  Sorry if my facts are miscorrect.

Nicholas was briefly in love with Princess Olga Dolgorukaya. I don't believe they were actually lovers.

I have read in more then one book that MK and Nicholas were never "intimate". And on one occasion that MK had a argument with Nicholas
because he would not sleep with her.

I don't think there is any doubt that they were lovers and even in love for a short time. Both of them were young, healthy and attractive.

His 'confession' in England to Alix just doesn't make much sense if he and MK had not been deeply involved.  I'm reading Brothers Karamazov and am interested at how very serious the issue of female virginity was at that time.  From that perspective, I can understand Nicholas' hesitancy as well as MK's wish to abandon herself to happiness, however brief.

I think that she must have been very impressed to be shown such interest by the future Tsar!

For sure, she must have been impressed -- which explains, maybe, why she was so insistent that their relationship go further.  I do wonder if MK loved N a bit more than people give her credit for.  It seems to me that authors sometimes cast her in the role of a seducing Siren or something, when I believe her affection for him was genuine.

It would be wonderful, wouldn't it, to be shown attention by a prince - as long as he's a good prince!

While she may have benefited from her relationship with Nicholas, I do believe Mathilde had genuine feelings for Nicholas. In her book she describes how even years after their relationship ended, one look from Nicholas (even if at a distance) would bring back all the emotions from the past.

Maybe, but i cant help seen her as an ambicious woman who got involved with powerful men to "Drain" them to get benefits

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but there is no evidence of this. Kschessinskya was not a hooker. She was a talented world calibur talent ballerina and there were many men attracted to her -so she really didn't need to get involved with the grand dukes and "drain them to get benefits". She had her pick of gentlemen, chose those in whom she was interested, and actually supported her family on her own - including Grand Duke Andre - after the revolution - for over 40 years.

Doesn't exactly fit your misogynistic conjucture, does it?

I never said she was a hooker but , in my opinion she liked to profit of her affairs to  get benefits (jewels, houses, power, etc etc). At least that happened with Gd Sergei, no? (You can find that at "imperial Dancer" by Hall)

And no im not misogynistic i just dont like this woman and what she did with Gd Sergei and all the confusing situation of Vova (i say it as a mother...i cant imagine how confused that kids was)

I support your opinion, Katenka. And I don't think that don't liking she was the lover of some Grand Dukes would be a mysoginistic idea. I'm a woman, so, being a "mysoginistic" person is not intelligent on my part.  ;) ;D  . However, I'm also a woman who never liked than women (or men) have so many lovers. Being attractive or tallented doesn't mean to have lovers here and there.

I don't know if she really loved Nicholas...Who could know it FOR REAL? But I think it's not probable. It was prettuy common back then, that pretty dancers and actress were lovers of princes or high class , rich men.Not all of them have lovers among these high situated men, but it was not uncommon...
